Location Highlights
Wichita offers a mix of urban amenities and outdoor access in south-central Kansas. The Arkansas River runs through the city, and the Arkansas River Path provides miles of paved trail near downtown and Riverside Park. Old Town Wichita features restaurants, galleries, and event venues in a restored warehouse district, and Botanica Wichita is located about 10 minutes from central downtown. Sedgwick County Zoo is one of the larger zoos in the region, and Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport is about 15 minutes from downtown for convenient regional and national travel. For day trips, El Dorado State Park is about 30 miles east of Wichita, offering boating, fishing, and hiking in a quieter outdoor setting.
